Newest Sewing Project

Tuesday when I met up with some high school friends for lunch, I suggested we meet at Hobby Lobby.  DANGEROUS!  It had been a few months since the last time I was there, before I retired and was obsessed with sewing and quilting again.  But I kept to my latest promise to myself to only purchase materials for one project at a time.

So this is what I purchased - two fat quarters of complementary fabrics.

How could I resist these two fabrics?  Buttons and spools, two things that are needed in order to sew and make projects.  Below is one of the free patterns I found on line and decided this would be a perfect gift idea and something I could make and sell at craft fairs.  Simple to make and easy to store until it is time for a craft fair.

Here is the link if you would like to have the directions for this project.

I can think of a ton of uses for this cute quilted basket:
*For the quilter/counted cross stitch crafter - put next to your chair for all your thread ends
*For the scrapbooker/card maker - put on your work station for those small scraps you throw away
*For the non-crafter - make one for every room to hold a square box of tissues
*For anyone - holds anything you want it to hold!  Baskets are the best!

PS:  I am finishing up the last few seams on my quilted placemats this morning!  Since I used the same fabric, pattern and block size as the table runner I made, I had to make a few adjustments to the placemats to make them the correct size since there was no pattern included for placemats.  I will post a picture of them tomorrow.  It will be another week before I get to the quilt store to purchase the border and backing fabric, so I will be starting the quilted basket tomorrow!

Happy Crafting!

  2. They look SO easy and are so cute! Went to start them today and needed iron on interfacing so as soon as the roads were cleared I headed a mile down the road to Walmart to pick some up!
