New Project & Quilting Update

Woke up to a FRIGID morning where the temps were in the mid teens.  BRRRRRRR
Perfect day to stay inside and work on my quilt, however I have lunch plans with friends as well as a trip to Hobby Lobby!  So worth bundling up and heading out later this morning.

Sunday after the Christmas tree and decorations were take down, I set up a puzzle on our dining area table.  I love to work on puzzles when I have the table available.  Our development has a clubhouse where I am able to rent the main room for the D & D Papercraft Events.  Also this clubhouse has not only a gym, pool room, card room, craft room and library.  The library houses enough books that I will never read them all as well as DVD's and puzzles.  I couldn't resist the "Bacon" puzzle that I saw last week.  All 1000 pieces!  Here is my progress as of Sunday late afternoon.  As of today the border is completed as well as a 6" section in the middle of the puzzle.  Check in Friday to see me progress as I have been working on it at least an hour each day.

Yesterday I chuckled to myself when I took the time to make a "schedule" for the week!  I listed what I needed to do this week in terms of laundry and cleaning and then scheduled in my crafting time for quilting, card making as well as reading and working on my puzzle!  CRAZY is my middle name!

Here is the latest update on my quilt project.  Yesterday morning I ironed all of the 2-1/2" strips that I sewed together last week.  I then cut them in to 6-1/2" blocks per the directions.

Each strip made 3 blocks so I kept the three together.  I was concerned that I didn't duplicate blocks too close to each other while I was setting them out for the table runner and placemats.  It took me almost two hours to "design" the table runner and six placemats.  Here is the picture of the table runner on my kitchen island.
I wasn't too thrilled with the lighter prints that were in the jelly roll I purchased, but once I worked on adding them in to the design I like how they contrast with the darker squares.  All of the projects are pinned and ready to sew.  Stay tuned for an update on Friday to see if I can get all of the blocks dewn together and ready to hand quilt!

Stay warm and Happy Crafting!
