Happy Thursday!
Up and raring to go this morning at 5:30 AM. As long as the hubby is working, I see early mornings for me as well! That is OK with me, as I can get a ton done in the morning and then have the rest of the days for crafts and reading!
I decided to share today what project I have laying out and ready to work on. QUILTING!
Years ago, and I mean MANY years ago I took a quilting class where each week we make a different block. I have no idea what happened to that quilt top, that I completed by never finished with batting, binding and the actually quilting of the top. I am stoked to start a quilt for our king size bed, however felt the need to start with something a little smaller! I took the advice of my sister-in-law and found a pattern for a table runner. Easy enough using either fat quarters or 2-1/2" jelly rolls. I didn't even know what a jelly roll was a few weeks ago!
After I selected the pattern I headed over to a local quilt store a few miles from my home, https://www.ladyfingerssewing.com/ in Oley, Pennsylvania. I walked in to the old stone hotel and felt so overwhelmed! I must have looked "lost" , because a few minutes later a sales person reached out to me to see if I needed any help. I had my pattern and told her my plans and she took me from area to area in the store to see not only fat quarters I could mix or match, and then she shoed me the jelly rolls. How clever that after years of not quilting, sewing or visiting fabric stores, that the jelly roll was created! Whoever came up with this deserves way more than a "high five" from me. Strips already cut to 2-1/2" wide in coordinating fabrics all rolled up so each of the 40 fabrics included can be seen.
As seen above, I am ready to start sewing the strips together. All strips were soaked to pre-shrink and ironed to make sure they weren't wrinkled at all. I decided to post this picture today so I actually start sewing! The project has been sitting dormant for a week as I worked on some other crafts this past week; finished a scrapbook page previously started, over a dozen cards were finished as well as the page kit that I posted on Monday that is still available for purchase.
Committing TODAY to start sewing! Keep me honest and comment below to make sure I actually threaded my machine and started sewing!🌝

Are you done yet??😃😃
ReplyDeleteHappy sewing, I know you will love the finished product.
Maybe you can show Ella how to quilt?
ReplyDeleteJessica, I would love to help Ella out in any way I can with her sewing/quilting. Right now I am fighting with a new machine I bought to get the bobbin tension right so I can actually sew!
DeleteIs that sewing machine running???
ReplyDeleteThink I got the tension fixed. Just spent a half an hour decided from the 40 fabric strips which three different ones will be sewn together. Need to finish some house cleaning and then start sewing!

ReplyDeleteLovely. I've started getting up an hour earlier recently and I get sooo much more done.
ReplyDeleteHappy you are sewing! What kind if machine did you buy? I love jelly rolls. I so enjoy making jelly roll quilts.
ReplyDeleteI bought an inexpensive Singer machine and so far love it. I don't need/want a ton of stitches. Hope to pick fabric out next for a king size quilt for our bed. Do you hand or machine quilt your quilts? I want to try hand quilting my table runner and placemats that I am working on.
