Friday Follow Ups

It is Friday again and we were blanketed overnight with a dusting of snow.  The weather people call this the "appetizer" before the "storm", since more snow, ice and sub zero temps are predicting tomorrow through Monday.  Glad it is after brunch with friends tomorrow and before my husband's Monday day off which is filled with appointments.

The table runner and six placemats are completely sewed and now ready for the batting, binding and backing.  Here is one of the placemats:

It was hard NOT to make a trip to the quilt store this week to select fabrics for the binding and backing since I am excited to finish them.  The seams are NOT perfect, but I am so happy with how they turned out so far for my first sewing and quilting project in over 25 years!

The plan right now is to add a small border to all items, back them and bind them.  I have NEVER hand quilted anything and promised my sister-in-law that I would try it on this project.  Since the placemats will be washed a lot, I PROMISED to hand quilt the table runner.

The Road Trip to several quilt stores is planned for a week from tomorrow, so I need to figure out yardages needed for the border, binding and backing.  Will check back in a few weeks to reveal my progress in hand quilting.🙂
