January Workshop Update

It is Martin Luther King Holiday and I was fortunate to be off today!
To all of you that attended my Stampin' Up Workshop this past Saturday, it was great to see everyone after the holidays and get back to card making!  We missed those who could not attend and hope to see you in February.

Here are the cards we made this month.

This last one is the special card we made called a Gateway Card. I promised I would post all the dimensions for those interested in making this style of card again. Takes a little time to put it together since there are numerous pieces, but it is simple to make the folds.  Several of my customers found out they had an "arm" on their paper trimmer to measure up to 12".

Card Base is 4-1/4" x 11"  (Cut a 8-1/2" x 11" in half the long way)

Score lengthwise at 2", 3-3/4", 7-1/4" and 9", Fold as noted in the picture above

Inside where the saying goes:
     White:   3" x 3-3/4"
      Mat:  3-1/4" x 4"

Side Flaps (2 of each)
     Cardstock:  1-3/4" x 4"
     Printed:  1-1/2" x 3-3/4"

Front Flap (these are my measurements, but you can use any size you want based on the stamp you use
     White:  2-1/2" x 2-3/4"
     1st Mat:  2-3/4" x 3"
     2nd Mat:  3" x 3-1/4"

If you have any questions let me know.
Have fun creating!!!!!

Sneak Peek!

Here is a "sneak peek" of the front of one of the cards we will be making at the January Workshop on Saturday January 16th.  This is called a "gateway fold" card and when opened looks like this:

This looks like a challenging card to make, however it is very easy.  It does require the use of a paper trimmer to "score" the areas where you need to fold the card to make it close this way.

The other three cards we will be making are still a "work in progress", but I can promise you they will be fun to make with several stamp sets used from the new Occasions Catalog that went live this past week.

Looking forward to the 1st Stampin' Up Workshop for 2016!

January Stampin' Up Workshop

Happy Holidays Everyone!
Hope now that the holidays are winding down, everyone is thinking about getting back in to crafts, especially card making!

Last year I accepted a challenge from my sister Kathy, who got me interested in being an Independent Stampin' Up Demonstrator FIVE years ago!  I can't believe it has been that long!  She challenged me to send ONE homemade card to someone each week of the year.  I was able to keep up with this challenge for over half the year, and ended up 2015 by sending about 35 cards to friends and family for all sorts of occasions in addition to "just because" cards.  This did NOT include the 40 holiday cards I made and sent out this year.

I challenge each of you to try this challenge in 2016!  If you come to my Stampin Up Workshops each month you will be making 3-4 cards per month that you can send, which is a great start to this challenge!  People LOVE homemade cards and your wallet will too!  Have you picked up and priced a card lately?  Sure you can find decent cards in the Dollar Store or similar discounted store, but do they really say what you want them to say?

Get a headstart on 2016 by joining me at the first Stampin' Up workshop of 2015.

Saturday January 16, 2016

We will be making 4 cards/projects for FREE!

If you plan to attend, please RSVP by Wednesday January 13th so I can prep the supplies.

Hope to see you!

So who is up for the 2016 Challenge?

Welcome to my blog!
Months ago I had great intentions to blog on a regular basis.  I don't think one a month is a regular basis, so I need to do something about that.......starting RIGHT NOW!  I am making the commitment to blog at least once a week.  I can make that simple commitment right now and improve on it moving forward as I dedicate more time to Stampin' Up and some other "new" ideas I have in the works!

I am hoping to add my Stampin' Up website to this site so anyone that is interested in ordering on line from me can find everything in one place.  This blog will featured ideas and tips for those of you out there that are interested in card making in addition to scrapbooking.

So stay with me as I continue to build my blog and website!

Thanksgiving is over and the Christmas holiday is right around the corner.  A few weeks ago I volunteered to help organize a Holiday Luncheon for 64 people where I work.  Last year we had the funds to go out to a local restaurant after work, but this year we are having it in one of our large conference rooms on site.  Ordering lunch was the easy part...... now I am trying to buy some gifts with a budget I was given which was quite lucrative.....$1600.  Last year we had a blast as all of our names were put it a bucket and management pulled out names for wrapped gifts as well as gift cards.  No reason why we can't do the same thing this year!  So I was out an about last weekend and even Thanksgiving night trying to find great gifts at the lowest prices possible.  So far I was able to save a ton of money on some electronics that should open the eyes of my co-workers as they select gifts at the holiday luncheon.

I found this cute idea on line for a gift card holder and proceeded to make 20 of them this morning to hold various gift cards for people to select from.  They were easy peasy to make and I think they will add a little extra something instead of just putting in plain while envelopes!
